Terms of Service

Effective July 26, 2026

Agreement

These terms cover your use of the CiteLocal website and service, operated by CiteLocal. By creating an account, running a scan, or using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date, and continued use after that date means you accept the change. This page is provided in plain language for transparency; it is not legal advice.

What the service is

CiteLocal measures how AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Google's AI answers respond to local search questions, reports whether a business is named, and provides guidance intended to improve that. A free scan is available; paid plans add recurring monitoring and remediation guidance.

AI systems change constantly and their outputs are not under our control. We measure what they returned at a point in time. We do not guarantee any particular AI result, ranking, citation, traffic level, or business outcome, and nobody honestly can.

Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information, and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

You must be able to form a binding contract, and if you use the service for a business you must be authorised to act for it.

Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis, monthly or annually, through our payment processor Stripe. Prices are shown on the pricing page and may change with notice; a change never applies to a term you have already paid for.

You can cancel at any time from your account. Cancellation stops future renewals and your plan continues to the end of the period you have paid for. We do not automatically pro-rate refunds for a partial period, but if something has gone wrong, write to us — we would rather sort it out than keep money we did not earn.

If a payment fails we may retry it and may suspend paid features until it succeeds.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service to break the law, infringe someone's rights, or misrepresent a business you do not represent. Do not attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the service, scrape it at a scale that degrades it for others, or resell it as your own product without our written agreement.

You may use your own scans and reports freely, including with your clients. If you republish figures from our rankings, attribute them to CiteLocal and state the date they were collected.

Rankings and published data

Our public rankings are ordered by a published formula applied to public review data. The formula, its constants and the data-collection date are shown on each ranking page. Nobody pays to appear or to move — see our editorial standards.

A ranking measures public review reputation only. It is not an assessment of medical quality, safety, credentials, licensure or clinical oversight, and it must not be relied on as one. Choosing a provider for a medical procedure deserves direct verification of credentials with the practice and the relevant licensing board.

Rankings are a snapshot, not a live feed, and public review data can be wrong or out of date. If something about your business is inaccurate, write to editorial@citelocal.ai and we will correct it.

Intellectual property

The site, the software, and our methodology and aggregated datasets belong to us. Your business's own data remains yours, and you grant us the permission needed to process it in order to provide the service.

Third-party names, ratings and trademarks referenced on the site belong to their owners and are used to identify businesses factually. Being listed in a ranking does not imply any endorsement of, or affiliation with, CiteLocal in either direction.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any measurement will be complete or perfectly accurate.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Termination

You can stop using the service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if these terms are breached, if required by law, or if continuing would create risk for us or other users — and we will tell you why unless we are legally prevented from doing so.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts located in California will have jurisdiction over any dispute. Nothing here removes a consumer protection you cannot waive under the law where you live.
